Computer as a teacher’s tool

As we all know that computers are really rampant in our society nowadays. It is very useful especially to the teachers wherein, for me, by the use of computer the preparation for the lesson will be more become easy and faster since that the computer itself can provide access information, foster creative social knowledge building, and enhance the communication of the achieved project package. Aside from that, I’ve noticed that the students also may become more attentive when it comes with the use of technology.  Many say that, “Without the computer, today’s learners may still be assuming the tedious task of low-level information gathering, building and new knew knowledge packaging.” And it’s really quite true since we are now belongs in a word of technology.

The teachers must really equip this new technology environment, especially in urban areas because most of the students are really refer to listen and could be able to relate when it comes with the use of technology. The teachers are considered already as the facilitator in the class since that the modern computer can help teacher-and-students to focus on more high level cognitive tasks. The students will be given a chance to explore or construct their own leanings by the use of the computer. It has been stated on the book that in the co-constructive way of leaning, the students would have a cooperating and sharing of their ideas since it a kind of  technology activity wherein it has being posted in an electronic board of a white board just for the students to edit the works of their classmates. So by this, the students will be able to have a wide understanding towards the lesson, would be able to think well and at the same time it would truly help them to improve their self-confidence.

Moreover, the teachers also should always inculcate the mind of the student that it’s not enough for the learners to download relevant information using the computer as an information tool. But the most important thing is that, they have to be able to understand about the sense and significance of the things being downloaded by computers. The students may be able to download everything such as text, graphics, sound and video since the computers and internet itself provides and enormous database. In fact, even the encyclopedia is already retrieving now by the computer.  Students can use gathered information for composition or presentation projects as may be assigned by the teacher.

As a preservice teacher, I have to be aware the constant change progress brought by the technology. The computer has varied advantages on our society but still there have also disadvantages in it. I have to weigh myself in using both new technology and the traditional one since these two ways are really significance in the teaching and learning process.                                                                                                                                           Prepared by:  JESSIEL B. Cooperating learning

As I had reflected earlier, the cooperative learning can greatly affects with the students performance in the class. Ever since when I encountered this activity, I reflected that the students would be able to compete among the groups when it comes to their presentation or the reporting about their given topic. I am quite prefer this kind of activity wherein, I do really experience that by this, I could be able to share and to express my own understanding and idea about the topic, at the same time it could really enhance my capacity and ability to mingled with my group mates and peers. There might some tendencies also that I could able to understand well, just because of many different ideas came from my group mates. It seems that I myself have this mentality of collecting information brought by this activity.

I can really says that this cooperative learning can really promotes the unity of the students because they are given a chance to think, collect, discuss, wonder and discover their own understanding. They would be able to work it together just to attain the exact solution of their task given by the teacher. Moreover the most important thing is that, the students would really enhance their self-esteem because each of the members should really contribute ideas that will be reported in the class. I myself love this strategy because it less task since each of us will be given only one responsibility to perform. E.g. in a one group, the teacher would say that each group would have to assign one facilitator/leader, secretary, checker and reporter. So for me, it would be easier that the individual task since this cooperative learning is destined to divide the duties/task among the groups. Moreover, it really gives us an individual accountability.

For my own point of view, though there are many instances that this cooperative learning can really help us to improve more especially in the communication skills. Still there are also a disadvantages might occur along the way of using this strategy. For instance in a particular group which contain 10 members. I could not really attest that all of them are really contributed or helping the group. For me, there might tendencies that some of the members were just passive and always letting the other group mates to perform the task. Also most of the output is coming only from the known as an intelligent person in the group.

As a preservice teacher I do realize that if ever I will be using this activity to my students, I would really monitor or facilitate them well. I have to make it sure that each of the members would really share their own point of view. In short I will assign one of the members to check the individual output/understanding on the given task or lesson.

Educational Resources

I’m pretty sure that this new technology such as: cell phone, iPods, computers and others would not be tools that could access information and could provide us pleasure without containing the software in it. I realized how really imaginative and creative a person who invented it. Imagine the uses of these gadgets are very much rampant in our society nowadays. They invented such technology just to make things easier and details. I myself can truly accept that these different kinds of technology completely catch my attention. I do believe in what had other says that, technologies considered as the attention theater most basically the computer.

            I considered myself as an Audio Visual learner, in the sense that I’m so easily struck with picture, sounds, graphics, images, videos and others, because for me having this way of learning could be able myself to have a wide understanding and attentiveness with regards on the topics. Aside from that, using this technology can give more emphasis of what the teacher would try to convey towards us. Let’s say that it would be a kind of strategies that could not find it hard to emphasize by the teachers, e.g. if the teacher might have a video presentation which very near or related the topic. So the teacher itself would not find it difficulties on dealing the students since that the students would be able already to watch the movie or presentation. It seems that for me the teaching and learning process would become more easy not just by the part of the student but as well as the teacher.

            But how can these programs would be occurring without the help of the software? Of course I have to be aware about the software. In the computer, I’m really much curious about the software in it, since I’m very fun of using of it when I have to create or do something for my report or presentation. Usually, I used the presentation software because I always creating the power point presentation when it comes to my report and others. Then, multimedia because it allows me to create and to play audio and I’m really fun of it since this could help me to get away of my exhausting moment. Another is the Spreadsheet software because it could be easy for me to make some table and it is easy also to compute by the use of Microsoft excels in it.

            You see? How the software work just to attain our pleasure of using such technologies? For me it’s really a kind of amazement because brought by the software of the computer I could be able to explore, create, discover and fulfill my satisfaction in doing a lot of things. I have I be grateful about the software because they have varied classification that fits everything we want to do, basically, excel, word, PowerPoint and others          .Prepared by:  JESSIEL B. Computer as a tutor

I have to inculcate in mind that computer really feeds us well especially in different assignment given by the teacher. This kind of technology is really known to us, since most of the students have it. In my own perspective, computer is a tutor, in the sense that whenever or whatever we will going to surf or research in the internet automatically the computer could really provide information for it. You see? How much internet affects us. Every time my teacher gives an assignment I would really immediately prefer to go at the internet laboratory rather than going at the library because for me using the computer is less task than looking for a particular book. For me, the computer really serves as tutor because all of the information being retrieved from the computer is considered as an instant one, all I have to do is to explore and show our creativity.

Computer for me is very essential because everything I want to know, discovers, and learned is in the computer already. Aside from that, it is easier to use rather than other sources.  Computer is very much updated in everything we want to know, especially if my teacher would ask me to have information about the weather forecast, latest news, airline tickets and others. Even the encyclopedia is already retrieving by the computer. I realize that how can we live without the computer since this technology is already a part of our life and a part of our development. I have to weigh myself on not always engaging it because their might some hazardous effect it in my body. I know, I’m already aware of this that computer contains much of radiation that could destroy my body but still I’m so attach with this. Now, I’m do trying myself not to use it all times but if it’s only needed.

Even the teachers in our school are using it, are they aware about the hazardous effect in it? Of course they are. But because of their desire of catching the attention of their students, they have to use it. The teachers also must have to weigh themselves of inculcating this technology toward the students even though the students are more interested when it comes to technology.

I have to lessen my needs of using computer though it gives me varied information and corrected me in my wrong. Most basically when I have to encode something automatically the computer would provide a proper word to use in a particular text, it corrected also the spelling and also it gives awareness about the wrong grammar and redundancy of the words. I realize that I have to consider also my health; I have to get away at the radiation coming from the technology just like the computer. Reflection Paper of Technology 2

           

As I’ve reflected Technology nowadays is very essential in the teaching and learning process. The student are very in touch with regards on this, in fact not just only the student but as well as the teachers. Through technology everything will be easy, faster, instant and creative. We can make use of a little time to prepare. The student will become more interested on it because there’s animation coming from the presentation. Through the use of technology we may be able to download everything, especially when a teacher needs to show or to emphasize something to the students. So in technology the presentation will be more productive. But how about the traditional ways of learning? Is it true that it’s no longer using it nowadays? For me, it’s a big “NO”. Why? Because it’s still important since this is the beginning of all the information that has being post in the internet. According to other people, we should not always focused on the information coming from the internet because that would be sometimes a mistakes, because it have been stated that it might edited of somebody who want to edit some information to make it wrong. Aside from that, we should have also to consider those rural areas, which don’t have enough budgets to have electricity. How will the students learn if the teacher doesn’t know on how to adjust their environment? Therefore as a Pre-service teacher I need to be a flexible one. I should have to know everything both of the Technology and the tradition ways of learning. I may be using the technology if I will be dealing students who are very particular on it, especially in the urban schools. Of course as I teacher I have to attain there ways on how to learn, so that I may not be boring and left behind by my student. But I still have to preserve my knowledge about the traditional ways of teaching, because it’s still been useful; especially during blackout more let’s say technical errors. Moreover when I will be assign in the rural schools that only use the traditional one. Then at least, both of the two ways I may not find it hard to use and to adjust. Aside from that, I will become influential, productive, and effective teacher.
